Work to transform Dunoon Burgh Hall into a new cultural hub is to proceed in January after the project won £300k in funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the final tranche of a £1.65m funding package. The cash will fund an overhaul of the existing building fabric allowing it to be repurposed as a multi-use community arts facility offering space for a range of exhibitions, dance classes, concerts, art classes, events and gatherings
John McAslan, head of the John McAslan Family Trust which is overseeing the work, told Urban Realm: “There must be hundreds of buildings like this across Scotland which are languishing empty and unused which are desperately in need of being brought back into use.
